UNEMPLOYED?

The Departments of Education and Labor have established a new web site to assist those who are unemployed.  Indeed, many unemployed individuals do not know they may be eligible for Pell Grants and other need-based student aid.  Most also do not know of the ability of financial aid administrators to adjust financial aid eligibility based on their special circumstances.  The web site provides information on financial aid, labor tools, and other key resources available for unemployed workers.

Summer Pell Grant sign-up begins April 1, 2009

If you are an eligible Pell Grant Applicant & you were not paid full time Pell for fall 2008 or the spring 2009 semester or you wish to attend in summer 2009 only, you may be eligible to receive a summer Pell Check.

Your 2008-2009 Student Aid Report (SAR) must be on file at Laney and you must meet satisfactory academic progress standards.

Attention All FAFSA Applicants

We are now accepting Student Aid Reports (SAR)

for 2009 – 2010 school year.

Bring your SAR to the Financial Aid Counter.  The sooner you submit your application, the faster file will be processed.

If you have not applied for your 2009 – 2010 Financial Aid you should do so now. Apply online @ http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ 2009 – 2010 Financial Aid is based on your 2008 income. Be prepared to show proof of income for 2008 and to provide copies of transcripts from all prior colleges and universities you have attended. You may be asked to provide other documentation or to fill out additional forms. Please go to Financial Aid Facts for more information.

For information and assistance, please visit our campus Financial Aid Office. If you have completed more that 90 units by July 2009 then you must petition to continue. You may ask for a 09-10 Petition Form at the Financial Aid Office counter. Students must apply each year beginning in January for the next academic year. Early applications receive first priority for available funds. Every effort will be made to offer assistance in the students’ native languages.
